There will be no class tonight as I am sick.

Look for readings/viewings for you to do on the class blog.

"Diller Calls Free Web Content a ‘Myth, Joins Refrain"

I think this is a crazy idea. People like things that are free.

Give Each Student a Kindle

I think this is a great idea. Transferring textbooks from paper to a device such as the Kindle is an inevitable outcome that schools will have to face in the future. We should embrace this concept and move forward to integrate this into every school in America.

Jerry - Assignment #1

I will be talking about gmaps-pedometer website.

Annie DeVane-The Intro

INTRO
Hello all,
I'm a designer and sketchy blogger who obsessively doodles, sketches, and cross-hatches. My blog is http://chunkstyle.blogspot.com/ and I've had it for over 4 years now.
I'm super interested in designing for mobile devices, but also am still loving the world of web design and traditional media (tv, radio, books). Things like Netflix streaming content are rocking my world right now. Good stuff.
With this class, I want to continue my quest to gain a holistic view of the media system and find meaningful ways to contribute to it.
CURRENT CONVERGENCE I THINK IS AWESOME
I've already mentioned it, but the Netflix streaming content is one of the best innovations to hit on-demand media since it began with cable and the TiVo. It does away with not only commercials, but also waiting for the hard-copy in the mail and location boundaries. I can be on my front porch with my laptop, watching high-quality streaming movies and television shows without any hard-copy or subscription limitations (I subscribe at a level that allows unlimited). I barely watch dvds anymore, but I still love tv for some reason.

insidecrm.com Power to the people and the Government

http://www.insidecrm.com/features/new-media-government-092908/

Social media tools are having an ever growing impact on public servants in governement and how they reach out to their constituents. Web 2.0 has empowered people to be more responsive and this is a great benefit for politicians and other public figures.

Power.com

I found this article in the technology section of the New York Times.

Power.com integrates social networking sites into one main Web site. It is an excellent way to help end users keep track of all their social networking responsibilities. Facebook is refusing to participate and is suing.
